Vernal Vibe Rise is a small, permaculture-focused farm in Renick, West Virginia. We raise a variety of heritage animals within our Field and Forest™ land rotation system, and our land also supports the growth of a variety of edible perennial plants and trees.
The animals that live here with us teach us more each day about how they want their lives to be; they all enjoy being outside and eating fresh grass, nuts, and roots at their leisure. The animals love the freedom to roam the pasture, rest under the shade of great oaks, and interact with one another as they choose. As we dedicate our time and energy to provide these animals with everything that they need, they, in turn, offer their best gifts to us.
Please peruse our website (www.VernalVibeRise.com) and consider visiting us at Vernal Vibe Rise in Renick, West Virginia so you can see firsthand the care that we take with our plants, animals, and land.
We use truly clean and natural animal husbandry methods, including intensive rotational grazing on organically-mamaged pasture, to raise rare-breed, heritage pork (the delicious Ossabaw Island Hogs are our specialty) from farrow through finish. We sell Giant Chinchilla and American Chinchilla rabbit meat, Hog Island lamb, Chocolate turkey, duck, and Cotton Patch goose meats, and eggs from various heritage chicken breeds, as well as organic perennial edibles, such as peaches, asparagus, herbs, and apples. We are able to assure our customers of the quality and purity of Vernal Vibe Rise products because the animals and plants have lived their whole lives on our farm, under gentle and constant care.
At Vernal Vibe Rise, we believe that Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) have the potential to be dangerous and we avoid them in our own diets and make the same clean choices for all of our livestock. This means that we have to make an extra effort to source supplemental feed for our pigs that is completely GMO-free. All supplemental feed for VVR poultry and rabbits is not only GMO-free, but entirely organically grown, as are the pastures from which VVR sheep and other livestock eat. These commitments mean additional expense and time for us, but we certainly believe it is worth it to know that our animals are healthy and the meat we sell is clean. We choose to avoid artificial chemicals on our land and in our home. We do not use chemical methods to keep the animals free of worms and ticks; instead, we offer them garlic, black walnuts, and food-grade diatomaceous earth. Any supplemental feed is carefully chosen with an eye for quality, locality, and true nutrition. Similarly, the perennial fruits and vegetables that grow at VVR are never treated with any artificial pesticides or chemicals. We produce rich compost and manure for use on our pastures and gardens. Thus, the animals feed the plants just as the plants feed the animals.
True perennial sustainability is our keen aim on Vernal Vibe Rise. Our animals enjoy shade and sun, grass and water, and lots of regular attention. The pigs flop down and roll over for belly rubs whenever they see us, and we each often have a trail of chickens, turkeys, ducks, and the like as we travel from pasture to pasture throughout the day.
On Vernal Vibe Rise, we can speak with assuredness about the quality of the products that we sell, as the animals and plants that have offered up these foods were planted, born, and raised here on our farm. We spend every day of our lives working with the plants and animals here, and what a blessing to do such work! Thank you for your interest in our methods and products.
